Hi, friend. Nice to meet you! My name is Quest and I currently live in Toronto (that’s in Canada for those of you outside of the “true north”). It doesn’t take long for most people to realize that I’m quirky, colourful, a big dreamer and a deep thinker, passionate about my faith, creative, a ready giver, curious, and most of the time – a big hot mess.
I’ve learned to laugh at myself though (usually when I’m in public places) because I’ve discovered that life is full of adventures, most of which are funny. I left my job as a designer in 2014 in pursuit (or a “quest” if you insist!) of finding happiness, enlightenment, and fulfillment. Basically, a bum or hobo, who fortunately, has a place to live and always something to eat.
I really love giving and sharing things like gifts (though not now because I’m broke as a joke), but most of all, I love telling stories (not in a lying “she’s such a storyteller” way but real stories … the good ones) and sharing knowledge. I figure that tidbits of knowledge (you know – the things I’ve learned about life, me, you, the world, things, whatever!) are best when shared rather than hoarding them like chewed-up pieces of gum underneath a desk for nobody else to enjoy.
So, the latest phase of my pursuit has brought you and I here to this blog where we can witness the pouring out of my thoughts, creativity, and heart … before it all explodes. I’ve chosen the name ‘Dots & Lace’ because it reminds me of a dance I’m crazy about, Flamenco. And Flamenco with all of it’s frills, and colour, and complexity, and beauty, and passion – the culmination of sweet and spicy – reminds me of me.
On this site you’ll find posts on things I’ve made in my kitchen or Brad’s (my fiancé) because it’s way better looking than mine. You’ll also find posts on how I’ve been able to get crafty while avoiding Pinterest Fails. Did I mention that I love photography? Well, I do and I especially like to find opportunities to setup little photoshoots but not in a creepy way like with my cat … yet. Finally, you can get an inside look at the crazily randomly messy that happens up in my noggin if you dare to take a look but don’t judge because I’m a little nervous about it all.
You may also notice two Amazon buttons in the footer of this site that look like this: I incur a few small expenses to keep Dots & Lace running. But with your help I can keep the blog free to everyone. When you use these buttons/links to make purchases, Amazon will pay me a small commission at no additional cost to you. If you’re like me, you shop at Amazon often so please bookmark and share these links with others.
So, what do you say? Why not join me on life’s adventures and then laugh at ourselves (well, me) later. Follow me, maybe?
