Making these treats for someone else was such pure joy for me because they contain a hidden Oreo surprise at the bottom of each cupcake. Well … actually that’s a lie. Let me rephrase, “these treats were such a joy for me to make then eat … in one sitting.”

And if you have the strength to make a batch without stuffing your pie hole with the whole lot of them, I’m sure the recipient would be forever grateful for your very kind gesture. I’m mean, come on! Who doesn’t love Oreos?!

Oreo Cupcakes

  1. 1 pkg Oreo Cookies, regular size
  2. 1 pkg Mini Oreo Cookies, for decoration (optional)
  3. 1 pkg Chocolate cake mix
  4. 8 oz Cream cheese, room temperature
  5. 1/2 cup Butter, room temperature
  6. 3 3/4 cups Powdered sugar
  7. 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  8. cupcake liners
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix packaged cake mix according to directions (do not bake).
  3. Line cupcake tins with liner, place a regular size Oreo cookie in the bottom of each liner.
  4. Take 1/2 of remaining regular sized cookies and chop coarsely, then add to cake mix.
  5. Fill the cupcake liners and bake for 15 minutes (or according to box directions)
  6. While cupcakes are baking, you can start making the frosting by creaming the butter and cream cheese.
  7. Add vanilla, then add powdered sugar slowly until blended well.
  8. Chop remaining regular-sized Oreos to avery fine consistency.
  9. Add finely chopped Oreos to frosting.
  10. Once cupcakes have cooled, frost and top with Mini Oreos.
  1. To get finely chopped cookies for the icing, try using a food processor or a blender.
