Yes, I’d Like A Slice Of Heaven

Ooooweee, what a quick and easy way to get a slice of heaven. I was given a day’s notice to make a cake for an office meeting and I’m so happy with the way this turned out.

Ingredients
  1. 1 pkg. (2-layer size) Chocolate cake mix
  2. 1 pkg. (4-serving size) Jell-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
  3. 3/4 cup Cold milk
  4. 1-1/2 cups Thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping
  5. 3 Tbsp. Pure strawberry jam
  6. 2 cups sliced Fresh strawberries, divided
  7. 1 tsp. Icing sugar
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round cake layers. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
  3. Beat pudding mix and milk in large bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Gently stir in Cool Whip.
  4. Place 1 cake layer on plate; spread with jam. Top with layers of half each of the pudding mixture and strawberries; cover with remaining cake layer. Top with remaining pudding mixture. Refrigerate 1 hour. Top with remaining strawberries and sprinkle with sugar just before serving.
Tips
  1. Use paper towels to remove excess moisture from sliced strawberries. To make a strawberry flower on the top of the cake (as in the photo), start on the outermost part of the cake and layer strawberries in alternating spaces.
